REVIEW STRANGER THINGS THE FIRST SHADOW: SCARE THE LIFE OUT OF YOUR TEENAGER

Stranger Things: The First Shadow is not a musical but a play that delves into the events that shaped the villain Henry Creel decades before the start of the TV series.
The play takes place in 1959 and begins when the Creel family moves to Hawkins, Indiana, to start afresh.
Soon, young Henry is confronted with the frightening truth about his psychokinetic powers and his mysterious connection to the supernatural horrors plaguing the town.

Brilliantly executed horror sequences are mixed with scenes from typical high school life, making it all feel a bit like a scary cocktail of Grease, E.T. and The X-Files.

For people who are not already fans of the Stranger Things universe, it may be difficult to follow the plot, as it is largely based on prior knowledge of the series. This is a premise you have to live with, even though it is claimed that the play can be enjoyed without any prior knowledge.
If you are already hooked, this high-octane and thoroughly entertaining theatre version is, of course, a must-see.

The production, which has now also opened on Broadway, has received rave reviews and won several awards for its impressive use of both cinematic and theatrical effects, which are right on target for the target audience, characterised by its young profile and unusually high consumption of popcorn.
Using cinematic techniques, it has actually succeeded in drawing cinema/TV series audiences into the theatre for a spectacular live experience. The cast is on their toes and the acting is skilful, but the performance thrives primarily on pampering the fan base with good thrills and unconditionally impressive technical staging.
